# About FrameCoach

## What FrameCoach Is

FrameCoach is the decision layer for your camera: a real-time camera coaching app for indie filmmakers and content creators. AI analyses your scene and tells you exactly which settings to dial in, before you hit record. It guides you through ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance and composition decisions while you're on set, so you can focus on telling your story instead of second-guessing settings.

Most filmmaking apps are tools: calculators, monitors, shot list managers. FrameCoach is a coach. It tells you what your settings should be for the look you want, and explains why in plain language.

## Who It's For

Solo filmmakers, indie crews, content creators and film students who don't have a dedicated camera department. Beginners get structured guidance and rationale that builds understanding. Advanced users get faster iteration and continuity support that saves time.

FrameCoach doesn't replace a DP or cinematographer. It supports better decisions and faster execution. It raises the floor for small crews and speeds up workflow for experienced teams, but craft and creative judgement remain yours.

## How It Works

1. **Connect your camera.** Link your camera's live stream over Wi-Fi so FrameCoach can see exactly what you see.
2. **Describe your vision.** Tell FrameCoach the look you're going for, in the way directors speak: "painterly and slow" or "crisp, sun-washed, editorial".
3. **Analyse your scene.** FrameCoach's AI analyses lighting conditions, dynamic range and potential hazards in real time.
4. **Get prioritised recommendations.** Ranked recommendations tell you what to change first, what matters most, and why.
5. **Shoot with confidence.** Hit record knowing your technical choices match your creative intent.

FrameCoach only changes a camera setting if you tap "Apply" on a recommendation. It never adjusts settings automatically.

## Cameras and Pricing

FrameCoach is an iPhone app. It works with the iPhone's built-in cameras directly, and connects wirelessly to supported Sony and Canon bodies. Compatibility depends on the camera model and firmware, so check the [full supported camera list](https://www.framecoach.io/support#cameras) before you shoot.

FrameCoach is free to use with a daily analysis limit. Pro plans are coming soon.

## Who's Behind FrameCoach

FrameCoach was founded by Melusi to make camera knowledge accessible to every filmmaker. It's built by a BFI alumnus with experience at National Geographic, Netflix, Sky, Working Title, SomeSuch and the Asian Television Awards.
